A few days left the first weekend of departure for summer vacationAutoroutes du sud de la France (Vinci Autoroutes) CFDT is calling all workers on strike, Le Parisien learned this Wednesday, confirming the information.
CFDT ASF central representative Fabrice Bergery says the strike notice, which runs from 4am on Friday 5 July to 10pm on Sunday 7 July, has been submitted by the union for the “first weekend of the crossover”.
Lack of staff
The notice applies to the entire Autoroute du Sud de la France (ASF) network, i.e. the motorway axes from Nantes to Biarritz, Toulouse and Montpellier to Lyon. “Our demands are mainly about manpower: we have not been hiring for several years, and this creates organizational problems with dysfunction in all sites,” explains the central representative, who emphasizes that activities are increasing without seasonal workers to respond to them.
In a letter to management and obtained by the local daily, the CFDT called for “a genuine relationship of trust between workers and management” and “rebuilding responsible social dialogue”.
In addition to hiring people for the summer, it is required to replace departures with permanent contracts, end pressure on workers and start an audit on psychosocial risks.
Negotiations were suspended at the end of June
On June 26 the union has already announced that it has closed the door to negotiations with management over profit sharing, deploring “inattention to trade unions,” “unfair negotiations and disrespect to elected officials.”
It remains to be seen what impact this strike may have on traffic in the affected areas Smart Bison is already seeing red for this first weekend in terms of attendance. Management at the motorway concessionaire want to reassure: “Vinci Motorways teams will be fully mobilized to welcome and support holidaymakers on this first weekend of major departures. Service continuity will be ensured on the entire highway network during the holidays. »
Fabrice Bergery, central representative of the CFDT ASF, says that if the management does not respond to their call, the union does not hesitate to start work again next weekend.
