EKPA is the highest global ranking found for a Greek University

The great improvement in individual scientific fields brings the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) to the 38th place in the world in the scientific field of “cardiology” in the “Best Global University Ranking”. This is the highest position achieved by a Greek University.

Professor of the Department of Cardiology Gerasimos Siassos stated: “Undoubtedly, this distinction confirms the recognition and appreciation of our University at the international level, the value, quality and high efficiency of its academic and research work. The academic staff of the Foundation achieve all these amazing advantages in several times unfavorable conditions. We will continue our efforts on the path of internationalization, extroversion and high quality so that EKPA will always be at the top.”

The results have been published for the 10th year in a row by the US News organization under the title “Best Global University Ranking”. It is the most important ranking in the United States and one of the seven most important worldwide.

It is home to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens 215th out of 2250 Universities This year’s rankings have been published, rising 35 places compared to last year and reaching the highest position achieved by a Greek university in ten years.

At the same time, it ranks 1st among the twelve (12) Greek Organizations included in the said ranking. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is in 2nd place and 394th place worldwide, and National Technical University of Athens is in 3rd place and 508th place. At the European level, it ranks 81st among 715 European Universities in the EKPA Ranking.

Note that in this particular ranking, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens appears in high positions worldwide and in twenty-five (25) separate scientific fields and subjects. In particular, it should be noted that three of them are among the top 100 universities (Cardiology, Gastroenterology – Hepatology and Infectious Diseases).

Twenty-five scientific fields in which EKPA works. who achieved a significant difference in this year’s ranking (there were twenty-two in 2023) are:

• It ranks 38th in the world in “Cardiology” (Heart and Cardiovascular Systems).
• It ranks 56th in the “Infectious diseases” (Infectious diseases) sector.
• It is on the 82nd place in “Gastroenterology and Hepatology” (Gastroenterology and Hepatology).
• It is ranked 109th in the “Clinical Medicine” Sector (Clinical Medicine).
• It is on 111th place in “Oncology” (Oncology).
• It ranks 113th in the “Public environmental and labor protection” sector (Public, environmental and labor protection).
• It is on the 114th place in “Immunology” (Immunology).
• It is on the 125th place in the “Endocrinology and Metabolism” Sector (Endocrinology and Metabolism).
• 130th in the field of “Surgery” (Surgery).
• It is ranked 141 in the “Neuroscience and Behavior” Sector (Neuroscience and Behavior).
• 146th in “Pharmacology and Toxicology” (Pharmacology and Toxicology).
• It is ranked 201 in the sector “Molecular biology and genetics” (Molecular biology and genetics).
• It is ranked 202 in the sector “Radiology, nuclear medicine and medical imaging” (Radiology, nuclear medicine and medical imaging).
