Electricity was cut off at Gennimatas Hospital in Thessaloniki

POEDIN is sounding the alarm for the Gennimata hospital in Thessaloniki, which has been without electricity since last A total blackout in the hospital “G. Jennimatas” from Thessaloniki since midnight and the hospital has been without power for more than 10 hours.

As reported by Michalis Giannakos, president of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers (POEDIN), the cause of the blackout is an external problem of the PPC, calling for its immediate restoration.

The PPC has been alerted and is clearing the fault, but the Gennimatas hospital has been running on a generator since midnight.

“The generator has been around for a while, not many hours, and it’s working perfectly. It worked so far, but ran out of oil. Now the hospital is without electricity and is waiting for a new supply of oil. The tank is empty. In many departments of the hospital, operations are delayed and there is danger. Since morning, the operator is not working and the patients are transferred to AHEPA”, says Mr. Giannakos.

He informed APE-MPE Commander of the 3rd Ministry of Health Panagiotis Boyatzidis, Gennimatas Hospital currently on duty at AHEPA hospital, fueled by a generator, and normal citizens admitted to the Emergency Department. Speaking to APE-MPE, Petros Ketikidis, a member of the executive committee of POEDIN and working at Gennimatas, pointed out that the power cut occurred at 1:00 a.m. after midnight, and the generators were turned on at 11:00 a.m. a tank of fuel arrived in the morning. As Mr. Ketikidis noted, the old building that housed the administrative services and TEP had problems until the fuel tank arrived. fuel was transferred from the Pediatric Department. Since there was a power outage and there was no generator to work, the CT scan was stopped, and the person with multiple injuries was admitted to AHEPA.
